Bag sealing equipment is a mainstay in businesses that rely on packaging for their products. It’s particularly important in the food and animal industries, where consumables have to be protected with a tight closure. Fischbein’s machinery has been around for more than a century and represents the most advanced technologies on the market. Its package handling technology ranges from simple handheld devices to large automated machines capable of closing a bulk of packages in a short time.

How does Fischbein’s bag sealing equipment work?

Fischbein uses a few different technologies with its machinery and can work with both paper and plastic packaging. Constant heat closers use an electrical heating element that is constantly powered. The top of the packaging is either fitted with a strip of adhesive that melts during contact (if made of paper) or is made from thermoplastics that close shut during contact. Most constant closers are built with conveyors that pull the package through and apply just the right amount of heat to produce a closure. Constant closers should only be used with plastics that come with PTFE coatings.

Impulse closers also use a quick burst of heat that is generated with an electrical current. However, instead of using a heating element that is constantly powered, impulse technology operates with extremely quick bursts of electricity. This heats the adhesive strip or thermoplastic just enough to flash melt it and close it shut. Impulse closers come in a variety of form factors, including hand held devices that can be manually operated. Hand held devices are ideal for smaller scale packaging operations or when mobility is a high priority. Industrial impulse closers typically function with automated jaws that clasp the top of the package and flash heat it. Impulse closers can be used with most container materials, including BOPP, MOPP, OPP, PVC, PP, PE, HDPE, LDPE and cellophane.

Fischbein also offers a unique package closing design that uses hot air instead of electricity. Its hot air devices function by directing the air flow over the top of the package. Packages closed with hot air machines don’t have to be fitted with sealing bands, making for efficient operation. Fischbein’s hot air technology is also more versatile and with its precise controls it can be used to close thicker plastic containers.

What should a facility do if there are any problems with Fischbein bag sealing equipment?

Philip Rahm International (PRI) has been servicing Fischbein equipment for years and should be one of the first contacts when machinery breaks down. It’s always best for a technician familiar with Fischbein technology to handle maintenance and repairs, as Fischbein’s machinery is uniquely designed. Hiring a technician not trained in Fischbein machinery can result in substandard maintenance or delayed repairs. The longer the device has to be taken offline, the more it will cost the company. PRI can minimize downtime and loss in profits with its responsive service.

Any company that handles a large amount of packages can greatly improve productivity with Fischbein’s versatile technology. And with PRI’s support, it can be kept in top form, providing excellent service for many years.
