How Are Grain Conveyors Used In Processing Facilities?

What are grain conveyors used for?

Handling a large number of cereals is a tricky task, as aggregate material like this can’t be roughly handled, or it will be damaged or lost. It’s also impractical to carry so much material without the help of machinery, so workers in the industry have to be able to rely on a transport system that is efficient, safe and capable of moving large amounts of product without losing any of it. From the field to the factory, these machines are crucial for quickly processing cereals.

What are the most common grain conveyors?

There are many kinds of transport systems, but they mostly consist of a few types of technology. Screw systems, also known as augers, use a helical blade to push material from one place to another. The blade is built into a tube to keep the material from being pushed away from the system. They are particularly useful when removing cereals from storage silos or when moving harvested cereals from the field to the combine.

Belt systems are not as common when handling bulk cereals but they can be useful when transporting a large amount of material from trucks to the factory. Pneumatic systems use pressurized air to move lighter material around and can also be utilized to separate large cereals from smaller pieces. Pneumatic systems are extremely handy when transporting cereals that have been milled and ground down into flour.

Vibratory systems are extremely popular for handling cereals and use rapid oscillations to move material from one place to another. Vibratory systems are built with a trough shape to keep the material from pouring over the edge and can even be placed at a slight incline to move material to elevation. Vibratory systems are extremely durable and able to resist punishing work conditions.

What kind of maintenance do these machines need?

Most transport systems use simple machinery to do their jobs, so major failures are rare. They are designed to fit into most work environments and handle large amounts of material without trouble. Regular inspections should uncover any possible problems with the machine and checking for electrical faults or corrosion comprises a bulk of the system’s maintenance.

What are the advantages of using modern grain conveyors?

Today’s processing facilities have to deal with large volumes of material, so transport systems need to be adaptable and scalable to fit modern factories. Fortunately, most current systems can easily be scaled up or down and fitted into most production streams. That means they will not disrupt a processing facility as they are being integrated into the setup and can even be built around existing production streams.

Transport systems are the backbone of any factory, making it possible to process a huge amount of material efficiently.
